Thus, a seal is made which is effectively the same as a traditional saxophone except here the entire pad cup is essentially one giant resonator. A solid metal "Tone Booster" key plate closes on the tone ring in quite the opposite manner of how a traditional saxophone operates. Selmer claims to have tested over 300 different materials before settling on the final tone ring composition. The center layer is an air tight, water-resistant layer. These tone rings are composed of three layers of differing synthetic materials that are blended togther to give the saxophone a solid feel when set up properly. Click on the photo to the left to clearly see the tone rings mounted in each tone hole. Soft, resilient "Tonex Tone Rings" are mounted in these sockets. To make this work, each tone hole is surrounded by a socket. I know this one needs the work so Im pricing it right in the pocket where you can walk up and buy it.The Selmer-U.S. The market is extremely hot on them right now and they just arent showing up any more. SBA tenors are so few and far between these days. If you can get the work done, or do it your self theres no doubt this is going to be a prime playing horn. Overhaul my main concern is to convey that this is an ugly duckling project horn needing a full pad job and cleaning. This sax comes with a very valuable Selmer Mark VI case! Once again this in to an SBA case. The serial number is there but its such a relaq you can barley read it, its so faint! The neck appears to have some pull down. This piece is missing and gone, not included. The clothing guard is that little piece of rectangle metal on the back side of the horn. This horn has its fair share of scratches, knicks, dings, dents, fleabites, metal wear of various red and green colors, patina, repair marks, and other crazy wear associated with such an old horn. This saxophone is a relaq re lacquered instrument! This saxophone will require a full mechanical overhaul and pad job to be a properly functioning saxophone. This saxophone is being sold as not working for parts only. For sale is a 36xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action Tenor saxophone! ![]()
